Ember Herrick, MPA - Emergency Manager

Biography:

Ember has 20 years of experience working across multiple disciplines including emergency management, community development, and media. She joined Davis County as the Emergency Manager in 2023. Ember has helped the State of Utah and its local communities to secure hundreds of millions of dollars in disaster and mitigation grant funding. She was appointed Utah's State Infrastructure Branch Director in 2020.

As an Army Science and Engineering Scholarship Recipient, Ember secured a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications & Political Science, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. She also has a Master’s Degree in International Communications from Nottingham Trent University in the UK, is a graduate of the Emergency Management Institute’s National Emergency Management Advanced Academy, and completed her EMT at SLCC.

Ember finds great fulfillment in empowering individuals to prepare for, respond to, and become more resilient to natural disasters.

McKenzie Pearmain - BS - Intern

Biography:

McKenzie joined Davis County as the Emergency Management Intern in October 2024. She graduated from Utah Valley University in August 2024, with a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Services Administration: Emergency Management and Disaster Assistance. McKenzie received certification in several Independent Study (IS) Courses from FEMA to supplement her education. She is also a certified Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer through Salt Lake City.

McKenzie is passionate about engaging the whole community in emergency management, so that individuals and families can be resilient and prepared in any disaster or emergency.
