Welcome to our annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival photo contest. Share your favorite photos of birds taken in Utah and enter to win fun prizes, including tickets to festival events and merchandise.

2026 GSLBF Photo Contest

November 1-15, 2026

Get your cameras ready for the 2026 Great Salt Lake Bird Festival! We encourage all who are interested in entering the 2026 photo contest to attend the festival from May 14-17, 2026. Capture your best festival bird sightings and get ready to enter your photos this November.

Welcome to our 6th annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival photo contest. Share your favorite photos of birds taken in Utah and enter to win exciting prizes, including tickets to festival events, local birding attractions, restaurants, and photo printing. Don’t miss out on your chance to win fabulous prizes valued at over $3,500. We can’t wait to see what your lens has captured!

The contest opens for photo submissions on November 1, 2026, and closes on November 15, 2026. Winners will be crowned for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with a special People's Choice winner for the photo with the most votes! 

Official rules and details on how to enter, how to vote, and a full prize list will be announced in October 2026.

All submissions must be received by November 15, 2026, at 11:59 pm MT. People’s Choice voting ends on November 22, 2026, at 11:59 pm MT.

 

Helpful Reminders

Photos must be taken in the state of Utah within the past 5 years, with a preference in judging given to those in the Northern Utah area, specifically around or near the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island, and the surrounding bird sanctuaries. 

Images must be submitted in .jpeg or .tiff format and include a bird or birds.

Images should be submitted with the highest quality with regard to file size, bit depth, and resolution, and should be shot by the entrant. Images that have been submitted in past GSLBF photo contests cannot be submitted again.
